Antique crochet has a lot of character, and so antique patterns are searched for by those looking to recreate classic styles and projects from a time gone by. The love of history, and the ever revolving fashion cycle have helped to renew popularity of this 19th century handcraft.
Amongst older people crochet is popular as a social activity and to help keep arthritic symptoms in check. The first thing to consider is the type of hooks or hooks you'll be using. Fortunately for us all, there were a lot of books, magazines and patterns published between 1850 and 1950 that have documented, the crochet creations that are from the peak period of this craft.
But just when we re feeling invincible, we give the big project a try and suddenly we ve met our match. Materials such as wood, rattan, metals, leather can be incorporated in various ways with crochet fabrics to create many fashionable designs. It was something that I could learn to do that could be useful in the future.
Crochet pattern e-books are great value and very convenient. There are some great resources out there.
